From Rupture to Relation : Engineering Possibilities in the Afropolis

Join us next Friday, 6th of November at 11 AM (CET) for a guest lecture of Cuban artist, designer and researcher Ernesto Oroza (@orozaernesto) in the course “From Rupture to Relation : Engineering Possibilities in the Afropolis”.
This session will investigate how failure, scarcity and restriction can become productive forces in design culture. Departing from the study of technological disobedience and the informal design of everyday objects in Cuban streets and Cuban homes, Oroza’s work analyzes how everyday design practices can hint at more than aesthetics. Over the past 30 years, Oroza has been building an extensive archive of repaired, modified, and improvised everyday DIY cuban objects of what he describes as a “poética de la necesidad”, poetics of necessity.
